ATL Europe Successfully Implement Safety Management System (SMS)
EASA accepted ATL Europe’s SMS Implementation in January 2025, achieving the deadline ahead of schedule.
ATL Europe has succeeded in implementing our SMS with EASA acceptance.
In November 2024, EASA reported at the Certification Conference in Cologne that out of 325 EASA DOAs, only 50 had been implemented. The deadline for this Part 21J regulation requirement is the 2nd of March 2025.
What is a Safety Management System (SMS)?
A Safety Management System, or SMS, is designed to provide a systematic approach to identify, assess and control safety risks within an organisation. The aim is to prevent accidents or incidents by proactively managing the hazards through established policies, procedures, and processes.
The Benefits of SMS
An SMS provides numerous benefits, including:
- Reduced accidents and incidents
- Improved safety culture
- Enhanced operational efficiency
- Better risk management
- Compliance with regulatory requirements
- Stronger reputation by proactively identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards
The Importance of SMS
Design, manufacturing and maintenance organisations can identify what a safe contribution is, and SMS should be considered as the means to consider why that might not be achieved.
SMS is a tool to build upon the existing mature disciplines already aiming to achieve these objectives by seeking weaknesses in the organisation’s systems and limiting the opportunity for the expected contribution to safety not to be achieved.
What Does the Implementation Mean for You?
ATL Europe has implemented this ahead of schedule to remain a certified DOA by EASA under Part 21 sub-part J, which allows us to continue supporting you with major and minor design changes and repairs to aircraft (CS25 & CS23) and rotorcraft (CS27 & CS29).
Please get in touch via the form below, and a member of the ATL team will be in contact to help you with over 1000 ready-to-implement mods and STCs.
We’re also fully equipped to provide all the necessary parts for your modifications, alongside teams of EASA Part 66 Licensed Engineers who can assist with installations globally.
